Welcome to my new blog! This blog replaces my old(er) blog(s) and hopes to consolidate everything. This blog also marks a new step, a transition in my life. This is a good thing!
I have enjoyed the art of photography since I was a little kid. My grandfather would pull out his Polaroid camera, you remember the one; you snapped the photo and pulled the photo out the side waved it around and peeled away the backing while everyone gathered around and watched it develop. I used to think this was the coolest thing ever! To see the photo develop before your eyes was spectacular!
Later I purchased a 35mm film camera, a Canon AE1. I saved up my money from my paper route and built a darkroom in my parents basement. Photography class in high school taught me the basics. I would add bulk rolls of black and white film and shoot to my hearts content.
After this came a real job and a girlfriend and I realized I had stepped away from this “hobby.” I had sold my camera, lenses and darkroom equipment and was left with a void, nothing. After using my dad’s Kodak digital camera I decided I had to have one. That camera lasted just siz months when I went out and purchased my first DSLR; a Canon D20. I was back. It was great to shoot as many photos as I desired and keep the ones I liked. My photography grew and the recollections of how much fun I had also grew. I was back and in love!
I matted several photos and placed them in neighborhood businesses and they began to sell. A friend urged me to shoot her daughter’s wedding but my confidence or lack thereof forced me to say “no.” They urged me on and I caved. I did it and had more fun than I can recall. Now I shoot weddings and sporting events primarily. This will be a showcase for my work. I hope you enjoy what you see.
