Ethan is my nephew. Well actually he’s my great-nephew. I could say he’s my grand-nephew but I don’t want to hear that word “grand” anywhere in conjunction with my name. Not yet. In order to avoid confusion between myself and my nephew, Ethan’s Uncle Chris he refers to me as “Uncle Uncle Chris.” When he hears others refer to me just as “Uncle Chris” he is quick to correct them.
Ethan is six and he slept at our house last night. When he and I woke this morning I was greeted by the host of 1001 questions. I haven’t seen anyone his age with the amount of energy he has. He is also one of the more intelligent kids his age I have had the opportunity to be around. He glanced at my bookcase and wanted to know specificis regarding my Stephen King collection. Uncle Uncle Chris, what does the clown in “It” do? I suggested we read from my collection of Dr. Suess books. Thankfully he agreed. I watched him play pee wee hockey last month and was amazed at his ability. His team scored 25 goals and he scored 20 of them.
I enjoy this photo of him because it’s probably the only time during the day that you will see him this quiet.
