Spring is here!

Spring is finally here. We have been patiently waiting for a long time. Last week as I drove Rte. 219 into the Southern Tier the sides of the roadway as far up the embankment as one could see, there it was…snow. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing…snow. It was depressing despite the fact I knew it would melt by the time I drove home, but snow…C’mon, it’s the end of April.  know we’re in Western New York but c’mon.

I’m sitting in my favorite Adirondack chair sipping an Edmund Fitzgerald in my shorts with my dog enjoying the last vestiges of a beautiful day knowing there are many more to come.

I hope you enjoy these photos as these are some of the things I notice sitting in my yard.

New Maple leaves

Jack and I are being stalked. OK, maybe not stalked maybe just watched because Jack had chased this guy up the tree so many times he decided he was going to sit and watch until we went into the house.

Pop’s Birthday – April 25, 1924

Yesterday was my father-in-laws 85th birthday. At the party God has blessed him with 85-years, all of his children present and almost all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family gathered at the nursing home for dinner and cake to celebrate his life.

Nancy and I went to visit her dad last Friday. When we go we try to time our arrival with the arrival of his dinner so we can help him eat. Pops slept the entire time we were there. Nancy thinks he’s been staying up most nights and is so tired he sleeps throughout the day.The

Pops 4/17/09The only time he would appear awake was when Nancy placed a straw between his lips. It was like a Pavlonian response. The minute he sensed the straw he began to suck. The doctors said it made no difference if he ate solid foods again as long as he consumed the two small bottles of fortified milk they provide at each meal as it contains more than enough vitamins to keep his weight normal.

I really love this black and white shot. For me there is nothing better than black and white to capture the true emotion of a photograph.
