North Tonawanda Lumberjacks vs. Lockport Lions

North Tonawanda pounded Lockport 28-0. Four different North Tonawanda players scored touchdowns Friday night.

North Tonawanda stopped David Fluellen in his tracks and kept him from scoring all night. Fluellen had previously averaged 212 yards per game was held to just 74 yards tonight.

From the Tonawanda News, “Senior Steve Kijowski keyed NT’s defense with 14 tackles, including two for a loss. He was just as solid offensively, leading NT with 109 yards on 16 carries. He scored from 18 yards out midway through the third quarter to give the Jacks a 21-0 lead. That was three plays after a 56-yard run to paydirt was negated by a holding penalty.”

More photos from the game at http://www.christopherkijowski.zenfolio.com. That’s my boy Kujo. He had more rushing yards than Fluellen had that night. I slowed down the shutter speed and love the blurred effect.

NTHS vs. Lockport Lions 9-25-2009This was the best look Fluellen had all night. The NTHS defense held him to less than 100 yards rushing. This was a huge disappointment for a player who was used to rushing for more than 200-yeards per game.

NTHS vs. Lockport Lions 9-25-2009This was the typical look Fluellen received all night. Yep, that’s my boy on Fluellen’s backside going after one of his two dozen tackles.

NTHS vs. Lockport Lions 9-25-2009Another typical view for Fluellen…defenders all around him and blocking every access route toward open territory and the promised land of the end zone.

NTHS vs. Lockport Lions 9-25-2009The final score brings the ‘Jacks to a 4-0 season. Congratulations boys! You are playing wonderfully!

I’m so impressed by Mr. Grapes 50-years of dedication to “Jacks” football. Thanks Mr. Grapes for being the “voice of the Jacks.”

North Tonawanda Lumberjacks vs. Kenmore West Blue Devils

North Tonawanda did it again. They won, 28-7. Kujo had a great game as he led the team with 12-tackles. Casey Shreve is eyeing up the quarterback and getting ready to go in for the kill.

NTHS vs. Kenmore West-23The quarterback runs from Casey and right into Kujo’s arms.

NTHS vs. Kenmore West-27Michael doesn’t just throw the ball, he runs with it too.

NTHS vs. Kenmore West-63Devan gets hit hard. Notice the defender’s feet aren’t even touching the ground. Ouch!

NTHS vs. Kenmore West-121Joe dives into the end zone for one of the Jacks four touchdowns.

NTHS vs. Kenmore West-138Kyle and Kujo wrap up the ball carrier and stop him dead in his tracks.

15th Annual Make-A-Wish/97 Rock Radiothon

For the 15th consecutive year, Larry Norton will spend 28 hours on 97 Rock to raise money to help grant wishes to Western New York children with life threatening illnesses.

The Make-A-Wish Radio-thon is your chance to help grant a wish by making a request and pledge to hear any song you want, or bid during our hourly auction on some one of a kind rock and sports items.

The goal for this years radiothon is $250,000. When the radiothon ended at 10:00 AM over $240,000 had been raised for Make-A-Wish. The listeners of 97-Rock came through again and now more wishes can be granted. WOW! It amazes me how the people of Buffalo, NY come together and dig deep to help such a  great cause! Thanks to veryone who volunteered their time and a special thanks to everyone who made a donation of time and money.

Andrea and Brian’s Surprise Baby Shower

I have known Andrea and Bryan for a long time. We won’t get into the exact amount of time because that would reveal how old I am and might lead to my depression. Seriously, it’s been a long time. Nancy  and I were invited to attend the couple’s”surprise baby shower.” WOW! I didn’t know how much fun could be had at one of these events. Thank God I had my camera with me. Brian seriously loved all of the gifts but was most excited by the plethora of diapers the couple received, that is until I explained to him they might only last a month.

Andrea's Baby Shower-40

Andrea's Baby Shower-90I think this is my favorite shot. Andrea’s sister Sarah came up with idea for a contest for door prizes. Baby diapers with a spot of melted chocolate. The guests had to smell and visualize the type of “diaper filler”. The correct answer won a door prize. I just couldn’t participate and I more than likely won’t ever look at chocolate the same way again! I can’t wait for the “real” shower in October.

NTHS Lumberjacks vs. Williamsville North

They did it again. The Lumberjacks are off to a great start. The game began on a somber note as the eight year anniversary of “9/11″ was commemorated and a moment of silence was held in memory of those who lost their lives that day.

Before the game began a group of local veterans were honored for their service to our country. I chose this side view of the color guard because a full frontal view didn’t allow me to see the comments on the flag which said, “You are not forgotten.” The men and woman who have and continue to serve to protect our country from further terrorist attacks will never be forgotten. Thank you for all that you do.

Honoring out veterans.
There is a small group of students who walk throughout the stadium complex carrying this flag and supporting the team. Occasionally they decide it is important to go into the visiting bleachers to ensure the visiting family’s are also supporting our team.

NTHS vs. Will. North-5Every game begins with the players entering the field by running out onto the field and running through the “Go Jacks” banner

NTHS vs. Will. North-29My son, pumped for the game after a difficult week of practice crashed through the banner first.

KujoKujo’s trying to get through the defenders to get to the quarterback.

NTHS vs. Will. North-107Like I said in the previous post; you just can’t have at least one post featuring Aaron Davis running in for a touchdown.

NTHS vs. Will. North-121Michael had a great command of the offense as evidenced by the final score of 63-0.

NTHS vs. Will. North-125Dick Grapes is celebrating his 50th year of calling the NTHS Lumberjack games. Way to go Mr. Grapes you have a great voice. Thank you for your 50-years of service and dedication to the NTHS Lumberjacks.

NTHS vs. Will. North-226This said it all! A number of people have asked me why the coach ran the score up. Well, he didn’t. From much of the second quarter through the end of the game he played the “rest of the team” which consisted of second and third stringers. Williamsville North just could not muster any offense.
