Earlier in the week I began what will now begin to be a weekly activity. If you guessed cutting the grass…you guessed correctly. I actually enjoy cutting the grass. It’s a zen thing. The weather this past week has been amazing and the weekend which was supposed to be rainy turned out to be really nice. It was cold Sunday but the sun coming out does wonders for my mood.
The iPad remains out of reach. As of this writing the 3g model is still listed with a release date of “late April.” I remain excited and have a list of apps which I want to download and begin using.
My kindle is gone. It has found a new home with a good friend. My love of reading not diminished, I picked up a favorite book and gave it another read. The book, “A Circle of Quiet” by Madeleine L’engle is one book to which I was attracted when I first came across it’s title. I prefer my life to be quiet. I have always been introspective and more than likely will turn down your request to have me attend your party. The only parties I enjoy are those where I have the ability to silently stalk the other attendees with my camera. This allows me to remain on the periphery; part of the party but still not part of the party.

When I am obligated to attend one of the “other parties” I often find myself with a book and a cup of coffee retreating to a “secret place.” Quite often this place allows me to be alone with my thoughts and feelings. Quite often it is also a place where others fear to tread. As Madeleine put it so well in her book, “I go to the brook because I get out of being, out of the essential.” Sometimes it is a real brook to which I retreat but it can also be the brook in my mind.
Tuesday I spent late afternoon with my friends at the Accessium Group. We re-shot the team’s head-shots with a different color background. We’ll post some of those photos later in the week.
This weekend was the weekend for black and white photos. Saturday was gray and dreary. Skies which threatened a constant drizzle and a wind that when it blew across one’s face reminded the individual of the Fall months. I enjoy these days. Not everyday but for me they are helpful and give me an opportunity to slow down, relax and reflect.
Kujo spent Sunday at Alfred University. He attended position meetings and watched the team complete a Spring practice. The coach will forward the school’s workout schedule and he will once again begin to hit the weights hard. I know he’s chomping at the bit to get playing. I just can’t believe he’ll be graduating from high school this summer and leaving us for college.

This coming Saturday will see the Annual Make-A-Wish Gala at the Seneca Niagara Casino. This is an awesome event and one not to be believed until it has been both seen and experienced. The theme is “creative black tie.” It’s always fun to see how creative some people can get. I’ll admit when it comes to creative dress, I’m not someone to be looking toward for inspiration. Last year it was a black tux with black Chuck Taylors. This year I decided to forgo the tux and will wear a “real” bow-tie and “Chucks” again. The color as of this writing remains undecided.
As always, thanks for reading my friends.
Namaste.
Chris
