Hey everyone. Happy Monday! This post will find itself published a little bit earlier than previous posts of the same name. This morning I’m leaving to meet a couple of old friends with a group of kids from the children’s home. We’ll meet up with our friends from Plattsburgh State University for a week of sea kayaking on Lake Champlain. We leave from Valcour, NY everyday and paddle for several miles along the lake. Photos will come.
Normally this would be the highlight of my week, but not this week. This week my highlight was my son’s graduation from North Tonawanda High School.
Emily Serwinowski was also a member of this graduating class. Normally this would not make any difference but Emily’s brother Tim who graduated in 2007 was shot and killed by a sniper in Helmand Province in Southern Afghanistan. Tim had recently arrived in Afghanistan for his first tour and was looking forward to returning home in just 2-weeks. As graduation ceremonies progressed, Tim received a standing ovation and a “moment of silence.” Later, Tim’s sister Emily walked across the stage to another standing ovation when she received her diploma.
Beyond this there is nothing more to say. Since Tim’s death I have spent quite a bit of time contemplating quite a few things. Both of my kids knew Tim. My daughter graduated with Tim and hung out with him. My son had played football with Tim for a number of years. My thoughts and prayers go out to Tim’s family during this difficult time.
Here’s a couple of photos from Kujo’s graduation. Mom and Dad with Kujo.

As always…thanks so much for reading. Tonight before you go to bed hug your loved ones and tell them you love them. Slow down your fast paced life. Whatever you don’t finish, know this; it will still be there tomorrow. Enjoy your life.
