Buffalo NY Wedding Photography, Monday Musings 1.31.2011

Hello faithful reader, welcome to the last post of the first month of 2011. I can hardly believe January is over.

The week began and ended with COLD temperatures! I mean it was cold. I’m not complaining…I’m just saying. I don’t mind the cold as long as I can see the sun every now and then throughout winter. I woke Monday morning to a temperature which fell to -8 and that’s without the windchill. I checked the town where I had spent the past weekend in the Adirondacks and saw a temperature that dropped to -35. Again without an associated windchill.

It was also difficult to return home from my trip. I love the outdoors and I’m a fan of solitude and quiet. You’ll never find me at party’s unless I’m there to photograph the event. I’m a different person with camera in hand.  As I drove out of the mountains I dug into my pocket for my prayer beads and began to quietly think of the wonderful time I had with my son and his girlfriend. Periodically I looked at the rear-view mirror to see the mountains growing smaller in size and eventually disappearing from view. Eventually they were to be seen no more and the tedious drive that is the NYS Thruway reclaimed my attention.

I was bummed I had dropped my mini video camera the night before the trip. I turned it on after replacing the plastic around the lens and turned it on. It turned on with no problem so I hit the record button. The camera began to record but I quickly noticed it would not focus. That 2-year replacement plan is looking good now. I love taking video of these little trips as it adds another dimension to the trip and serves only to enhance the still photography and my memory.

I’m not sure where the week went. We say this when the time appears to have “flown” by. I don’t recall being any busier than I normally am. I spent much of my free time writing in my journal while reminiscing about my recent trip to the Adirondacks. I have begun to “settle back in” to daily life. I won’t lie it’s often a difficult transition for me. I struggle with the insensitivity which I often experience as I’m driving. You know what I’m talking about, the individuals who believe you will slow down as they pull out into traffic forcing you to slam on the brakes.

This isn’t my journal…what’s contained in this blog are snippets from my journal; both written and photographic. I hope you continue to enjoy.

Thank you so much for reading.

Namaste.

Chris
