Welcome fans to another edition of “Monday Musings.”
The “toaster” otherwise known as the Honda Element was dropped off at the repair shop. The care required a couple of sway bar links to be replaced. The mechanic explained it was an easy repair job but before the repair could be completed we needed to get in touch with the “extended warranty people.” It’s very sad nothing can be easy. Im lucky to have a pretty awesome mechanic who is honest and willing to do what people did for each other a couple of decades ago; go the extra mile to make sure everything works out.
Sunday the Buffalo area received some very difficult news. Buffalo Sabres winger Rick Martin died. Apparently Rick suffered a heart attack while driving. RIP Rick. You gave all of us in my generation great memories of the Buffalo Sabres. My photography has allowed me the opportunity to meet you. Thank you for those memories.
My return to running has gone better than I had ever expected. There is some residual flu going on but I’m just happy to be back out there after a layoff of a little over a week.
This is the primary reason why in my wedding photography business I work hard to keep things as easy as I possibly can keep them. I figure you have enough to deal with hiring other vendors, etc. You don’t need more to be heaped onto that pile. So…at the present time it looks as though a job that could have been completed, allowing my car to be returned to me will now take at least one other day…simply because of all of the red tape.
Despite this news, the sun was shining and this all but made life that much better. Unfortunately these days would be the only which we would see the sun for the next week. To make matters worse I received several calls from my parents who “reminded” me of the wonderfully sunny days they were experiencing in Orlando.
Tuesday was “Fat Tuesday”, Mardi Gras. Welcome to the start of Lent for those of you who are Catholic. The parade, as evidenced by the photographs was an awesome time. We threw over 10K beads to parade goers. The weather was at least 15-degrees warmer than it was last year. This alone made the parade that much better. I tried to hook up with my friends for dinner and a drink but parking and a misplaced phone put a damper on those plans.

Wednesday I received a call from Lou Billitier. Lou explained the photographer who had agreed to photograph the Buffalo Hearing & Speech Gala Saturday night had rescinded his commitment. I was honored to be asked to donate my time to another wonderful Western New York and Buffalo, NY organization. A great event held at a great venue for a great cause.

Buffalo’s own Bobby Millitello on sax.
