Welcome to another edition of “Monday Musings.” This is the post where I share just a little bit about me and what I’ve been up to in the past week.
Enjoy!
The week began poorly or the way I would describe poorly; it snowed again. Remember it’s the end of March. A friend reminded me that it “wasn’t a tsunami, an earthquake, a forest fire, etc.” I get it but when you reside in a city which has lost another 30K people since the last census, is listed as the second poorest city in the country and is in the top five for rates of depression; it is what it is. Thanks Judi for trying to brighten the day. Unfortunately only melting snow and relatively consistent sunshine will help.
The new snow forced me, for safety reasons to return to the confines of a local gym. I was forced to return and the circular, repetitive running which can only be accomplished on the dreaded but sometimes necessary treadmill.
I wrote a post on September 24, 2010 about my return to running. Running has always been an activity for me which there has been a high degree of attraction. Those who don’t understand ask me “Why do I do it! Why do I run?” In the past I’ve tried to explain my running and my need to run to others without much success. There are times when I don’t truly understand it myself. I do know the freedom and the solitude which come along with running allow me to escape if even for a few hours from the reality of life. As Amby Burfoot said,”It’s (running) is a great way to see the sunrise and sunset.”
My running has reached a new level. After a couple of jittery steps which ended in the injuries which are all too common to me I stumbled upon the concept of “barefoot” or “minimalist” running. I changed my gait and have been running injury free since.
Saturday I went out for a run and decided to head in a new direction. The run felt smooth and effortless. After 1:43:34 minutes of running I had covered 10.4 miles and felt great. Now if I can just find a ride into the office in the morning, I’ll run home (10-miles) once each week.
This weekend we’ll be shooting another Gala. This is the Make-A-Wish Annual Gala at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, NY. I look forward to this event every year as it allows good friends to come together in support of such a g=fantastic organization. Photos of course, will follow.

Thanks for reading.
Namaste.
Chris
