And the hits just keep on coming.

Pneumonia. Second round of antibiotics. Mom brought her homemade chicken soup. Delicious. The soup definitely warmed my heart and my soul.

Snow continues to grace us as if confused by the date on the calendar. Stephen’s car began leaking oil. it just felt as if nothing was going to go any better. Thankfully as the week progressed the weather improved as well. My health, made worse by a diagnosis of pneumonia one week ago was interesting throughout the week. The cough which plagued me the previous week remained. As each day progressed I found myself becoming increasingly tired. I wondered if I had made a mistake not taking time off from work to recuperate.

I cancelled plans with friends Friday night and instead returned home to sleep. I woke from a brief nap feeling refreshed; my hope for improved health and a rapid return to running was renewed. I woke Saturday after sleeping twelve hours feeling even better. Temperatures were to be in the high fifties. I was concerned and didn’t want to experience the false sense of feeling well which normally is a part of my recovery route. You know what I’m talking about; you begin to feel better so you increase your activity level only to feel wiped out and wanting to kick yourself in the ass for pushing things too fast. Another nap will ensure I’m getting the sleep which my body requires to ensure a full recovery.

Vacations are scheduled and I’m looking forward to spending some time alone catching up with reading, hiking and definitely back to running. I’m sure the weather will cooperate and we’ll even get the kayak not the water for a paddle.

Stephen and I are looking forward to a trip to South Bend, IN to see a preview of the upcoming Notre Dame football season.

We celebrated Marissa’s twenty-second birthday. Wow! 22! I can’t believe I have a child who is 22. Happy Birthday Marissa. As I grow older a sense of urgency grows inside of me. There are unfinished goals which I work to complete. The difference today is today I take my time to enjoy the path, the journey my life is taking me. I know I will achieve my goals and that is important but enjoying the view along the way is more I portent for me today.
