Images for a Cure

Welcome aboard and help me celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

A few weeks ago what was only an idea in a photographers heart quickly became a reality as Kristen Weaver created the Images for a Cure national fundraising event.

Images for a Cure is a one day event where hundreds of participating photographers will be shooting portrait sessions for a discounted session fee of $100.  All the session fees from the event will be donated directly to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®.  This day in age it seems virtually impossible to find someone who has not been touched by breast or other forms of cancer.  A few  years ago Bradford’s aunt was quickly taken by the disease in a matter of months.  We are so honored to take part in such an incredible event that allows us to use our talents and bring something beautiful to an ugly disease.  Join us on October 11, 2009 as photographers across the country will be shooting portraits to help raise funding to further breast cancer research.  Christopher Kijowski Photography is proud to be offering mini sessions on Sunday the 11th for $100 each.  Our mini sessions are perfect for family photos, holiday photos for Christmas cards, or just because.  Please contact us at christopherkijowskiphotography@gmail.com or go directly to our website at www.christopherkijowskiphotography.com if you are interested in booking your session.  Book soon as only a limited number of sessions are available.

Happy (early) Valentine’s Day

Well almost. I know it’s not here yet but I thought I would start blogging about it now. For me Valentine’s Day marks the half-way point of February and another step closer to the end of Winter and the start of Spring. You ask where the romance is, well I’m getting there.

I really dislike cards. I dislike cards for any reason or season. I now for any guy reading this this might sound soft but what he heck. I write a letter to my wife for occasions such as this. I use these letters and these opportunities to express my love for her, to let her know how much she means to me and how grateful I am she has chosen to be in my life. This June we celebrate twenty-two years of marriage. We have had our rocky times but we persevered and came out on top. I recently read Seth Godin’s book “The Dip” and realize Nancy and I could have written this book.

I recently stopped in at Barnes and Noble and found a great tool that complimented my letter writing. It is an old time letter stamp with a stick of wax. You know what I’m talking about the wax that you heat and drip on the back of your envelope to seal the envelope. Then you place the stamp in the wax to mark it. When I do things such as this and then type this blog on a laptop I think about how conflicted I am that I often believe I was born several decades too late but that’s for another post.

Here’s my idea for Valentine’s Day. I was thinking the other night that many wedding photographers offer “engagement shoots.” So I started thinking about offering what I am calling, “I love this person but we’re not engaged” shoots. So I want to offer my readers an opportunity to win a free photo shoot. (The contest covers my creative fee only and does not cover prints.) Since my blog is relatively new and my local readers are just becoming familiar with it this offer will expire on February 28, 2009. Write me an email telling me why you love this special person in your life. What you like about them, what behaviors make you smile, what quirks they have that make them special and unique. I’ll pick my favorite, post it on my blog and give away a free photo shoot. This is a $125.00 value.

So start writing and send them in.

Super Bowl Special!!!!

Super Bowl Sunday is THIS weekend and I couldn’t just let it go by without attaching it to some sort of special, so to help celebrate the big game, this is what I am going to do.

Book a shoot (creative fees and travel expenses must be paid in full upon booking) for any time this spring, summer or fall and I will give you a $1.00 print credit for every point scored by either team. So, if the score is 28-7, you will receive a $35.00 print credit toward your prints after your shoot. If we have a low scoring game and the score ends up being 7-3, I will give you at least a minimum print credit of $25.00.

Send me an email to check for open dates (my booking calendar’s not up yet) and we’ll book your date ASAP.

This offer is due to expire Monday after the completion of the Super Bowl.My son Stephen as the ball carrier.

Let’s hope for a high scoring game!!!

Small but Large Print -

Print credits are only good for prints or digital file packages and cannot be used toward creative fees, canvas’, custom made cards, etc. Offer only good for new bookings.

Go Steelers!! Go Cardinals!! I haven’t decided who I’m going to root for. Steelers are essentially in my backyard but for me the Cards are the sentimental favorites. I hope I figure this out before the start of the game.

You will also want to keep coming back…better yet why don’t you just add us to your Google Reader and we’ll be brought directly to your computer with every posted update. Well, I digress you will want to keep coming back to get information on some new packages we’re in the process of developing. One will be our “Senior, Senior” shoot and another will be our “Help me help you” shoot. That ought to keep you guessing this early in the morning.
